Since 1977, the Seattle Aquarium has played a starring role on Seattle’s central waterfront and is a prominent voice for marine conservation. As one of the most-visited cultural attraction in the city, with over 830,000 visitors each year, the Aquarium is planning a major expansion and renovation of its existing facilities to meet future demand, further educate and inspire visitors to care for the world’s oceans, and to enhance the overall success of Seattle’s downtown waterfront redevelopment. Point32 successfully oversaw the development of the Aquarium’s Master Plan for expansion, and together with a Seattle-based design and engineering team, developed schematic design-level plans for a new building and the renovation of the historic Pier 59.
